Demos

1. Initial Registration and CSE-Online installation

Description: This demo shows step-by-step on how to install CSE-Online on your computer

2. Tesing job submission to the TeraGrid

Description: This demo shows step-by-step on how to test if CSE-Online running on your computer can submit jobs to a TeraGrid computer.

3. MolDesign: the Molecular Science Application Framework

MolDesign is a Molecular Application Platform that enables a single entry point for all molecular modeling needs. It also provides a seamless and transparent access to the TeraGrid resources for learning.

Demo 1 illustrates how one can easily build 3D molecular structures, submit jobs to the TeraGrid, manage multiple jobs, and visualize/analyze the results. Click here for Flash version at 1024x768 resolution

Demo 2 shows that a complicated process of an organic molecule moving inside a carbon single-wall nanotube can be modeled and obtained insight into its dynamics in less than 5 minutes walltime. Click here for Flash version at 1024x768 resolution

Background for Demo 2: Suenaga, Isobe, Nakamura and co-workers recently showed that trapping organic molecules in a carbon single-wall nanotube can significantly slow down its motion making it possible to be observed by transmission electron microscopy. Science (Feb. 22, 2007 Issue: DOI: 10.1126/science.113869). The demo shows that the repulsion between the two hydrocarbon chains and with the wall of the nanotube will locally stretch the tube thus apply a brake to its motion along the tube.

4. Setting up Global File Explorer to access your remote servers

Description: This demo shows how to setup the Global File Explorer to access your remote servers. Once done, management files on these servers becomes transparent.

5. Global File Explorer for collaborations

Global File Explorer (GFE) allows users to have a transparent and seamless read/write/move files from the local disk and remote servers, and to share data to other CSE-Online users.

6. PDB Database to BioViewer

Description: This demo illustrates how the user can use the CSE-Online client environment to search data on the Protein Data Bank database and using BioViewer to view/analyze the structure.
